Geboren am 1.01.1951 in Moskau. Nach der Hochschulausbildung am MGIMO ("Diplomaten-Hochschule") arbeitete Wladimir Polenow über 20 Jahre lang an den Botschaften der UdSSR/Russlands in Bonn und Berlin und war zuletzt Botschafter in Jamaika. Autor mehrerer Bücher, die in den letzten Jahren in Moskau erschienen sind, darunter des Kinderbuchs "Leuchtturm Geburtstag und andere Märchen". Zur Zeit - Vizepräsident der Gesellschaft "Russland-Deutschland". Lehrt an der MGIMO-Universität (Sonderkurs "Sprachwissenschaftliche Landeskunde" auf Deutsch).
