Born in Paisley Scotland in 1917. Graduated from the University of Glasgow BSc in 1939 and M.Ed in 1952. Qualified teacher who taught in Catholic schools for 5 years. Then Lecturer at Paisley College of Technology. Labour councillor 1962-78 including Convenor of Education Committee, Renfrew County Council and Vice Chair Education Committee Strathclyde Regional Council. Died 2005
