About the author

Dr. Eduardo Kalina was born in Argentina in 1937, graduated with a medical degree from Facultad de Medicina (Faculty of Medicine) of the Universidad de Buenos Aires (University of Buenos Aires) in January 1961, and has been a specialist in psychiatry since 1975. Throughout his career, he has published more than 100 scientific papers in Argentina and several magazines worldwide. In August 2011, he was named "Master of medicine, psychology and psychiatry of addictions in Latin America" in Paraguay by APAMAD. Since 1994, he has been the Director of the Brain Center, an institution specializing in treating drug addictions, and a full member of Asociación Argentina de Psiquiatría Biológica (Argentinean Association of Biological Psychiatry). He has a Masters' Degree in Addictions from the University of El Salvador and the University of Deusto, Spain, and is a visiting lecturer at numerous institutions in the United States, Brazil, Venezuela and Mexico, among other countries.
