Complete and unabridged, with 59 full-page plates by Walter Sickert, Odilon Redon and John Martin. Three stories and two novellas - the crystal egg that shows Mars, the clerk who finds he can work miracles, and a Stone Age hunt told without a single anachronism. The best of Wells's shorter scientific fiction in one volume. This edition adds fifty-nine plates of painting bound with the text, among them works by Walter Sickert, Adolph von Menzel and Bartholomeus van Hove, plus one restored and coloured illustration.
