Complete and unabridged, with 57 full-page plates by William Quiller Orchardson, John Constable and James Tissot. Lady Selina Chandos manages her family the way she manages her correspondence, and an inconvenient truth is whitewashed so smoothly that only the person it is done to objects. Fifty-five plates drawn from Orchardson and Tissot trace the same world of drawing rooms, courts and quiet arrangements that Vachell turns into comedy.
