Complete and unabridged, with 58 full-page plates by William Powell Frith, Ivan Shishkin and Lovis Corinth. A Devon squire's household, a disputed inheritance, a Catholic conspiracy in the family, and the Crimean war at the end of it. Henry Kingsley wrote it after five failed years digging for gold in Australia, and it is the best of him - Ravenshoe was admired by everyone from Trollope to Kipling. This edition carries a gallery of 58 plates after painters including Clarkson Frederick Stanfield, William Powell Frith, Ilya Repin and Ivan Shishkin, together with one restored and coloured illustration.
