Complete and unabridged, with 51 full-page plates by Francesco Guardi, Antonio Joli and Hendrik Frans van Lint. A nun and a doctor flee a convent at Subiaco in the hills east of Rome, and two generations later the consequences arrive in Rome. This edition adds a gallery of 51 plates after Mengs, Panini and Joli, and nine illustrations restored and coloured for this volume.
