Complete and unabridged, with 60 full-page plates by Karl Robert von Planitz, Jean-Baptiste Camille Corot and Charles-François Daubigny. Stories about cats and other animals by the daughter of an Archbishop of Canterbury, who was also one of the first women to excavate in Egypt. The tone is exact and unsentimental; she watched animals the way she catalogued temples. This edition binds 60 plates after painters including Landseer, Rosa Bonheur and Hammershøi, and restores and colours all 15 in-text illustrations.
