Complete and unabridged, with 49 full-page plates by George Morland, Richard Parkes Bonington and Erskine Nicol. An Irish officer's account of his own career, in which every posting ends in a scrape, a duel or a misunderstood proposal. This was Lever's first book, written while he was a country doctor, and it made him famous enough to give up medicine. This edition binds 49 plates by painters including Edvard Munch, Daniel Maclise and George Morland, alongside 8 restored and coloured illustrations.
