Complete and unabridged, with 44 full-page plates by Sylvester Shchedrin, John Frederick Herring, Sr. and J. M. W. Turner. An Anglo-Irish family with a great house, a doubtful title to it, and children who each want a different future. Lever knew the class from inside and wrote about its decline without much pity, which is why the Dublin reviewers disliked him. This edition binds 44 plates with the text, among them paintings by John Frederick Herring, Sr., Francis Danby and Francis Sartorius, alongside 16 illustrations restored and coloured for this printing.
