Complete and unabridged, with 2 full-page plates by John Morgan and Henry Weigall. Holmes has been dead for ten years, at the bottom of a waterfall, and Doyle had killed him gladly to be free for serious work. Public pressure, and an offer of money he could not refuse, brought him back: the empty house, the cracked bust, the bicycle, the dancing men. Thirteen stories from a writer who resented every one of them and never wrote them carelessly. Its 84 original illustrations have been carefully restored and coloured for this edition.
