Complete and unabridged, with 60 full-page plates by David Cox, Alfred Sisley and Jean Béraud. Thackeray's Paris years - the galleries, the guillotine he watched, the French novelists he disliked - and an Irish tour written in the same voice. He was a failed painter living on the remains of a fortune lost at cards, and the malice is superb. This edition binds 60 plates after Caillebotte, Daumier, Béraud and others, alongside a restored colour illustration.
