Complete and unabridged, with 52 full-page plates by Jean-Baptiste Camille Corot, Gustave Doré and Dominic Serres. A mock-medieval romance in which the knight is ridiculous and the dragon is worse, by a Second Empire official who wrote as Quatrelles. Light, brisk and entirely unserious about chivalry. This edition carries Tom Hood's translation and a gallery of 52 plates, among them paintings by Gustave Doré, Gustave Courbet and Jean-Louis-Ernest Meissonier.
