Complete and unabridged, with 54 full-page plates by John Lavery, J. M. W. Turner and William Orpen. A stranger falls from the Cathedral gallery in a quiet English close, and the dead man had come to Wrychester to look for something that a canon, a clockmaker and a solicitor would all rather he had not found. Fletcher was a Yorkshire journalist who wrote more than two hundred books, and Woodrow Wilson's praise of The Middle Temple Murder had just made him famous in America when this 1920 novel appeared. The cathedral politics are exactly observed.
