Complete and unabridged, with 60 full-page plates by Raimundo de Madrazo y Garreta, Martín Rico and Manuel Barrón y Carrillo. Spanish chronicles retold - the fall of the Gothic kingdom, Don Roderick, the legends of Pelayo and the reconquest. Irving gathered these during his years in Spain alongside the Alhambra material. This edition is bound with sixty plates after Van Halen, Browne, Rico and others, showing the Battle of Las Navas de Tolosa, a Moorish girl with a parakeet, and the doorway of a house in Toledo.
