Complete and unabridged, with 60 full-page plates by Thomas Cole, Alfred Sisley and William Etty. The London the guidebooks left out - the night refuges, the opium rooms, the courts behind the Strand - walked and described by the journalist whose earlier reporting had forced the slum clearances. Sims wrote it to be read by the people who lived a mile away and knew nothing. This edition is bound with 60 plates of painting, among them works by Whistler, Doré and Millais, and includes the translator's text.
